The Blue Striped House - Inside

We've learned that this house has already received offers, one above the asking price of $439,000.

The windows and door of the house all need some work and should (in the case of the former) be replaced.

[Here you can see the peeling frame around the casement windows. This is the kitchen window]

The front hallway leads to the kitchen on the left.

There's an "eating nook" on the right, a GE gas stove and oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a side-by-side refrigerator. The door in the background leads to the laundry room and a door to the side of the house.

The front hallway also leads to the living room.

[The tie back and curtain rod are not in the best condition. The security door is quite rusted on the outside]

There's also a dining area attached to the living room that connects to the kitchen.

The ceiling is popcorn, which may contain asbestos, but in any case, is not particularly attractive. The heater also appears to have some asbestos coating.

The water heater is in the hall and is improperly secured (not at all) and lacks the proper emergency vent. There is a full bath opposite the smallest of the three bedrooms.

[The full bath]

Here is the smallest of the three bedrooms. I would probably use this as a guest room.

The second bedroom is a little bigger. It has a larger closet and an overhead fan. I would probably use this as an office.

The master bedroom is a little on the small side and has a kind of funky (not in a good way) closet. The windows, facing the side of the house are casement, and remind me of an apartment I used to have in Palms.

The master bath has been recently remodeled and both bathrooms look quite nice.

The backyard is large. The two side fences are creaky and partially falling.

[The two windows are to the two smaller bedrooms]

[There's a shed in the back for storing gardening equipment. It looks like there was a very large tree back there, but only some of the roots remain].
The Bottom Line:

Good points: a second bath, large backyard, nice hardwood floors, nice bathroom
Bad points: small master bedroom, popcorn ceiling, asbestos on heater(?), windows need replacing, in flight path of LB airport, can hear freeway from front lawn.

  1. the best thing about this house is the hardwood floors. (and i think that living room is the size of my apartment) but acrylic for the shower enclosure screams cheap and lazy! the backyard seems to be a good size. the outside of the house is horrible but easy to improve. i'll give it a 3.
